What strategies are other salons employing?
I delved deeply into the realm of salon websites, scrutinizing their features, functionalities, and user experiences to glean insights and pinpoint potential areas for improvement and innovation. This extensive understanding guided me in honing my research approach, allowing me to accumulate a wealth of valuable insights.
How do clients approach booking and salon services?
I conducted comprehensive interviews with five clients to explore their habits and behaviors related to salon services. The goal was to gather insights into how they interact with salon offerings, particularly regarding their preferred treatments, appointment booking routines, and overall service exploration.
Key Insights
1) Influence of Social Media
Social media platforms, particularly Instagram, play a significant role in discovering new salons and hairstylists. Before committing to a salon, interviewees often explore social media for real examples of the salon's work and ambiance.
2) Reviews and Referrals
Personal recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues, as well as online reviews, heavily influence the choice of salon for most interviewees. Trust in the salon's quality of service is essential when selecting a new salon.
3) Clear Website Navigation
Interviewees highlighted the importance of clear and intuitive website navigation when exploring salon websites. They appreciated websites that provided straightforward information on services, pricing, and availability without unnecessary complexity.
How do my initial concepts look during their developmental stages?
After sketching out our initial concepts, I proceeded to create low-fidelity wireframes. These wireframes served as a visual guide to our ideas, fostering discussions and refining our direction before delving into more intricate designs. By employing this approach, we could swiftly collect feedback and guarantee that our subsequent design iterations remained in line with our project objectives.

The Explore page in our playlist export feature is essential for boosting user engagement and discovery. What are the notable successes and challenges?
I crafted an interactive prototype for our YouTube playlist export feature using Figma and conducted usability testing with four participants. The aim was to assess users' ability to navigate the interface, understand its functionalities, and evaluate its effectiveness in simplifying the playlist export process.
